Engineering a different way to move.
Ecocipher is building axial-flux motor systems around a simple idea:
We develop motor technology, power electronics and supporting systems with a focus on higher torque density, compact packaging and application-driven performance.
Building better motor technology for industry
We want to make industrial motors more efficient, compact and practical.
While conventional radial-flux motors continue to dominate the market, Ecocipher is working on axial-flux technology to achieve higher power density, use materials more efficiently and reduce energy consumption.
Our vision is to take this technology beyond prototypes and build powertrain solutions that can work reliably in real industrial applications.
From motors to complete powertrains
Ecocipher is focused on developing advanced motor technology and turning it into practical industrial solutions.
Our work started with a 5.5 kW dual-rotor axial-flux motor and has grown into expertise across motors, gears and controllers.
Today, we are working towards an integrated Industrial Powertrain (IPT) that brings all three together in one system.
It started with a different way of looking at motors.
The idea behind Cipher began in 2019, when Harshit Kumar Singh was still an undergraduate studying electrical engineering, with an eagerness and fascination towards electrical machines.
At a time when the industry was largely built around conventional radial-flux motors, the team wanted to explore something different — axial-flux motor technology that could deliver high power density while using materials and energy more efficiently.
In 2019, Cipher108 Industries Pvt. Ltd. was incorporated, and in 2021 we filed two more patents in the company's name.
The idea moved quickly from concept to experimentation. An early prototype was developed around a 5.5 kW dual-rotor axial-flux motor, followed by patents and continued work across electromagnetic, mechanical and control systems.
The bigger challenge was building a team that had never worked with axial-flux technology before, and giving them the freedom to experiment, learn and build. Over time, that small group of three people and Harshit's vision grew into a team with expertise across motors, mechanical systems and controls.
As the technology developed, so did the ambition. The team began looking beyond the motor itself and working on the systems around it — motor controllers, drive electronics, winding systems and cycloidal gears.
An integrated Industrial Powertrain
This eventually led to a broader goal: developing an integrated Industrial Powertrain (IPT) that brings the motor, gear and controller together as one system.
A problem worth solving
Ecocipher began on 18 November 2024, founded by Anshul Nagdeve and Harshit Kumar Singh.
The starting point was straightforward: India's EV, industrial and defence sectors needed high-power axial-flux motors capable of meeting global efficiency benchmarks — built domestically rather than relying on imports or conventional radial-flux alternatives.
The company was built around that engineering challenge.

Don't inherit the compromises.
Engineer around the application.
A motor is not just a motor.
Its performance depends on how its topology, core material, winding process and controller work together. Ecocipher's approach is to develop these elements as part of one system rather than stitching together components designed independently.
That means the engineering team can tune the system around the application, instead of asking the application to adapt to someone else's compromises.
SYSTEM
A different geometry.
A different starting point.
Conventional radial-flux motors have shaped electric drive for generations.
Ecocipher takes a different route with axial-flux architecture — using a flatter, disc-shaped form that can deliver greater torque density while reducing the machine's depth and weight.
For applications where space, mass and torque matter, that architectural difference can become a system-level advantage: shorter, lighter and higher in torque per kilogram than conventional radial-flux machines.
Explore the technologyFrom one engineering idea to a growing hardware platform
Today, Ecocipher is running more than 10 hardware programs across Mechanical and Power Electronics, with a core team of around 10 people.
Its work includes axial-flux motors across 5.5 kW, 15 kW and 22 kW, motor controllers and drive electronics, surveillance and land-mapping drones, and electric autonomous tractors.
The team has also built its own ERP and procurement system to support multiple hardware programs running in parallel.
If the tool doesn't exist, build it.
Ecocipher's approach extends beyond motor architecture. From winding machines to motor controllers, and from hardware development to its own ERP and procurement system, the company has chosen to build critical tools in-house where they matter to the engineering process.
The next generation of electric drive won't be built by repeating the last one.
Ecocipher is developing the architecture, systems and engineering capabilities to build what comes next.
